The National Centre for Traffic Management (NCUP) has available databases and data warehouses of traffic data. In addition to the databases and data warehouses, we also have a static and a dynamic national traffic model of Slovenia. Given that we have all the available traffic data and tools to produce traffic surveys, we have decided to periodically produce surveys related to traffic issues and publish them on the NCUP website.

Identification of traffic light intersections with impacts on traffic jams on the Ljubljana Highway ring

With this analysis we have identified, at which intersections traffic jams are formed that reach the highway and have an impact on traffic jams on the Ljubljana highway ring. Intersections are identified with graphic representation of the impact on congestion in rush hours.

Analysis of the estimated travel times in the days from Thursday, March 28, 2024 to Saturday, March 30, 2024

The analysis takes into account the impact of the forecast traffic load according to the traffic calendar prepared by DARS for 29.03.2024 (Friday before Easter Monday) and the days before and after - from Thursday, 28.03.2024 to Saturday, 30.03.2024 inclusive. Based on the results of this analysis, a procedure for conducting further traffic analyzes (forecasts) for other critical days of the year in accordance with the traffic calendar (DARS) will be established.

The impact analysis of the expansion of the Štajerska and Primorska freeway branches is carried out in order to examine the impact of the expansion of the Štajerska and Primorska freeway branches provided for in the measure to reduce traffic congestion on freeways within the procedure of maintenance works for the public good. The analysis covers the final state after the implementation of the two planned stages. The analysis takes into account the load on an off-season working day, during the morning and afternoon traffic peaks.

The analysis deals with the impact of the expansion of the southern and eastern sections, the Ljubljana ring, with an additional traffic lane (TEN-T corridor), including the expansion of the Štajerska and Primorska highway branches. Off-season working day loads in the morning and afternoon peak hours are considered.

The analysis of the impact of the closure of the main road between Nova Gorica and Razdrto (H4) for freight traffic on an average day of the year was carried out using the Slovenian national macroscopic traffic model. The analysis was carried out to find out how the traffic volume will develop in the event of a closure of the H4 for freight traffic (this is one of the possible scenarios for the closure, and this scenario is also used in the event of Burja).

The analysis of the impact of traffic on one half of the H4 motorway between Nova Gorica and Razdrto on an average working day of the year, when traffic on one half of the H4 would flow in two directions with one lane in each direction, was carried out using the Slovenian national macroscopic traffic model. The analysis was carried out with the aim of finding out what impact the partial closure of the road between Nova Gorica and Razdrto (H4) will have on the traffic flow in the narrower area between Nova Gorica and Razdrti and whether it will affect the wider area up to the Ljubljana motorway ring road.

The analysis of the impact of the closure of Dunajska cesta on the redevelopment of the railway overpass in Ljubljana was carried out using the national macroscopic traffic model of Slovenia. The analysis was carried out with the aim of finding out what impact the closure of Dunajska cesta has on the traffic flow in the narrower area of the centre of Ljubljana in the immediate vicinity of the closure or whether it has an impact on the wider area up to the Ljubljana motorway ring road.

The influence of road closes on congestions in the area of Kozarje

Traffic flows and congestion on the motorway are also affected by conditions on local roads especially in case of partial or full road closures. Recently, it has been happening that these closures were simultaneously on several roads in a narrower area, resulting in traffic collapse.
