In order to improve the efficiency of Slovenia's transport system, a national traffic management system is being put in place to help achieve the objectives of improving mobility and accessibility, improving road safety and reducing environmental burdens.

One of the measures to achieve these objectives is the establishment of a dynamic traffic simulation model. The dynamic traffic simulation model is based on a macroscopic four-stage national traffic model for hourly and daily traffic.

In order to perform this task in a qualitative manner, an information system has been developed at the National Traffic Management center that can provide real-time information on the current traffic situation (speed, level of service, number of vehicles) for the entire traffic network and traffic forecasts for the next 60 minutes. This information system has been in use since 2019.
